On Dec. 16, 2015, CJI’s Barbara Pierce was invited to present on a panel at the Second Chance Act and Justice and Mental Health Collaboration Program conference in Washington, DC. The panel, entitled The Impact of Solitary Confinement: Implications for Reentry and Behavioral Health, was the first of its kind at a national conference.
Barbara’s presentation highlighted CJI’s work with state departments of correction to reform restrictive housing (also known as solitary confinement or segregation) and focused on the questions corrections agencies and their partners should ask themselves if they want to improve restrictive housing reentry process.
