AURORA, Colo. — On April 23th and 24th, members of the Crime and Justice Institute coordinated and facilitated the Third Annual Institutional Corrections Research Network (ICRN)/National Corrections Reporting Program (NCRP) data providers meeting.
Sponsored by the Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS) and the National Institute of Corrections (NIC), Kristy Danford, Brandon Miles, Dave Parilla, and Meghan Guevara traveled to the National Corrections Academy in Aurora, Colorado and set the stage for lively discussion, engaging presentations, and networking for 71 federal and state correctional research staff.
Meeting highlights included a keynote address from Dr. John Pfaff of Fordham University on understanding prison growth through the lens of county data and Acting Director William Sabol of the Bureau of Justice Statistics on the analysis of national-and state-level recidivism estimates.
This is the third conference that CJI has facilitated in cooperation with BJS and NIC. The feedback on these meetings has consistently been positive; one participant this year said, “This was an unbelievable experience. Building state and national partnerships is vital in research, policy, and planning for state agencies.”
